The sixth Pan-Arab Congress of
Gastroenterology will be held in Beirut, Lebanon, less than a year from
now, on June 7-10 2006. Arab and world experts will be brought together
in that meeting to present and share their views, updates and data on
the latest in Gastroenterology.

The meeting will take place over three and a half days. One day will be
devoted to endoscopy, and two and a half will be devoted to various
topics such as viral hepatitis, portal hypertension, obesity,
Gastrointestinal diseases in pregnancy, inflammatory bowel diseases,
anal disorders, Gastrointestinal malignancies, motility disorders,
etc….There will also be symposia on common problems in Gastroenterology
like GERD, Helicobacter pylori, and irritable bowel syndrome.
Five previous congresses were held in Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Sudan, and
Dubai. During those meetings, important progress was made in
disseminating knowledge in gastroenterology, and therefore in enhancing
patient care and education. We would like to continue in the tradition
that was begun by Gastroenterology leaders in the arab world. Inspired
by their achievements, and with their support, we hope we can further
advance gastrointestinal and liver research, education and practice.
Beirut is a wonderful city on the Mediterranean Sea. It has a lot to
offer, from historical sites to continuous cultural activities,
restaurants of all sorts, and much more. I take this opportunity to
invite all gastroenterologists, hepatologists, endoscopists, and
surgeons in the region to reserve their place in the meeting. I look
forward to seeing you in all in Beirut, in a meeting that I am sure will
be great science and great fun.
Dr.Kassem Barada
President of the Congress
